Kuroshio Ocean Education Foundation
Principle
To care about the environment and ecology of the ocean surrounding Taiwan and the oceanic culture of Taiwan.

Founding
In 1996, Taiwan Cetacean Search Group conducted an ecological survey of the cetaceans off the coast of Hualien, and found a considerable number of cetaceans of various species living there. In order to combine social resources for continuous caring about marine ecology, the members of the Search Group founded the “Kuroshio Ocean Education Foundation”.

Kuroshio
“Kuroshio” is a term directly translated from Japanese, referring to the “Dark Current(North Equatorial Current)” The warm and forceful current originating from right north of the Equator swings around Taiwan’s eastern coast, bring in enormous nutrient as well as abundant marine resources that diverse species rely on. Kuroshio’s silent strength and influence symbolize the wellspring of marine life in Taiwan.
