Kaohsiung county：Sing-Da harbor、Cian-Jhen fishing harbor

Kaohsiung county is at southwest part of Taiwan, and next to the Taiwan straits. It has advantages for fishery development for its 38 km coastal line, extensive continental shelf, and interflow of currents. It is also named “Golden coast”, because the mullets are migrating to here during winter every year. Kaohsiung city is next to the Kaohsiung county, it has a 27km multi-functional coastline. There are Zuoying military harbor, Kaohsiung international commercial port and 11 different scale fishery harbors, which are fully equipped for fishery industry development.

Sing-Da harbor is a type 1 fishing harbor, located between Er-Ren river and A-Gong-Dian river. Sing-Da harbor is an excellent fishing harbor cause of the wide rich fish farm near it. Even fishery resources were dried up such as today, it still has certain number of gains. In winter, it is also a place for mullets catching boat gathering, therefore it got a reputation as “The mullets harbor”. Two smokestacks alternate with red and white are landmarks of the Sing-Da harbor, which belong to a thermal power plant next to harbor.

Cian-Jhen fishing harbor is a type 1 fishing harbor at southwest of Kaohsiung city. This harbor owns the highest fishery catch amounts, and is the biggest far sea fishery base of Taiwan. There are variety fishing type here including tuna long line, squid jigging, trawl and purse seine. The working sea areas are including the Pacific ocean, the Atlantic ocean and the Indian ocean. Tunas, sailfishes, sharks are the main catches of large-sized fishes, and squids are the main catches of small-sized. The catches of squid and tuna here own the first and secondary amounts of the whole world. If you are interesting in all kinds of boats, fisheries and fishes, Cian-Jhen is a good place to visit. The market in harbor separated into two parts, large-sized fishes and small-sized fishes. Large-sized part is the area for selling far sea fishes, such as tunas and sailfishes, which were refrigerated. Small-sized part is the area for coastal and offshore fishes.
