Conservation
Taiwan is a small island surrounded by the ocean. Compared with resources from the land, we have more from the sea. With the efforts of government and people, the Marine Affair Executive Commission was established in Jan 1994. It is in charge of marine policies and any other affiliated affairs.

Because of the increasing population, the coast areas become the areas for developments. The length of Taiwan coast is 1500 KM. Up to now, the primitive coasts of Taiwan are just only 44.7 percent of all. And 95 percent of the coasts along Yunling, ChaYi, and Zuonhua counties are developed. By the different use of land, we can classify those coasts as several types : Industry, Power plant, Fishing port, Mariculture, Landfill, Resort
